MLB SETS PLAYOFF SCHEDULE

WILD CARD GAMES OCT. 2-3, WORLD SERIES BEGINS OCT. 23
With the non-waiver trade deadline behind us, the focus now turns to October baseball.
The 2018 postseason will begin on Oct. 2 with the National League wild card game, followed the next day by the American League wild card battle, MLB announced on Thursday.
The World Series is scheduled to begin Oct. 23. If necessary, Game 7 is scheduled on Halloween, Oct. 31.
With the All-Star Game no longer determining who has home field advantage, the Series will start at the home of the pennant winner with the better regular season record.
The NL Division Series begin Oct. 4 and the AL Division Series start Oct. 5.
The NL Championship Series is scheduled to begin on Oct. 12, while the AL Championship Series gets underway Oct. 13.
Should two pennant winners finish with identical regular-season records, the standard tiebreaking rules will apply. First is head-to-head winning percentage during the regular season, then higher winning percentage in intradivision games. A tiebreaker game is scheduled for Oct. 1.
