RECORD-SETTING SCORING & CLOSE GAMES: Through Week 4, league-wide scoring continues to trend at a historic rate, as the totals for points scored (3,030), touchdowns (344) and touchdown passes (228) are all the highest in NFL history through the first four weeks of a season.

While scoring has been up across the league, the games have remained as competitive as ever.
  • The average margin of victory has been 9.90 points per game, a mark that would be the lowest in a full season in 86 years, since the NFL record was set in 1932 (9.13).

HISTORY IN THE MAKING: New Orleans quarterback DREW BREES has thrown for 71,740 yards during his 18-year NFL career.
With 201 passing yards against the Redskins on Monday Night Football (8:15 PM ET, ESPN), Brees will surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer BRETT FAVRE (71,838) and PEYTON MANNING (71,940) for the most passing yards in league annals.
