JAMES CONNER, RUNNING BACK
There wasn’t a whole lot to like at Lambeau Field from the
Steelers’ point of view in a game that ended in a 51-34 victory for the
Packers. But there was one bright spot for the Steelers, particularly during
the time when most of the front-line players were in the game.
That would be the running of James Conner.
On the Steelers’ third offensive possession of the game,
Conner carried three times on a three-play, 73-yard touchdown drive that tied
the game at the time, 7-7. On the first play of the drive, Conner gained 8
yards. On the second play, he burst through the middle for a 24-yard gain that
became a 39-yard gain when defensive lineman Dean Lowry was flagged for
grabbing Conner’s facemask. Then Conner carried for a third straight time and
raced 26 yards over the left side of the line and got himself into the end zone
for a touchdown. That was it for Conner on the night, and he finished with five
carries for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Also considered were James Washington, who caught five
passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns; Joshua Dobbs, who played the entire
second half at quarterback and completed 12-of-18 for 192 yard, with two
touchdowns, one interception, and a rating of 116, to go along with 27 yards
rushing on five attempts; and L.J. Fort, who had five tackles and a sack.
