Fresh off reports that he has not talked
with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ brass since December comes this
note that disgruntled receiver Antonio Brown is set to meet with owner Art
Rooney II.
Brown
officially requested a trade earlier this week after months of
speculation that he could be on his way out of town. Meanwhile Rooney himself
recently noted that it’s unlikely
Brown will be with the team next season.
In no way does this mean that things can be fixed between
the two sides. As Ian Rapoport noted, it’s simply a show of respect from Brown.
Said discussion could be Brown’s way of making it clear he
does not want to return to the Steelers. If so, he could ask Rooney to allow
him and agent Drew Rosenhaus to seek a trade with another team.
