The Pittsburgh Steelers have all but confirmed that they are
open to trading Antonio Brown, and the star wide receiver certainly has not
given any indication — at least publicly — that he wants to remain with the
team. His agent isn’t helping much, either.
On Thursday, a report from sources claimed the Steelers want to reconcile with Brown and there is
“mutual interest” in that happening. Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told several
media outlets on Friday that the report is not based in fact, though he would
not say what outcome Brown is hoping for.
Drew Rosenhaus
told several media outlets report of possible Antonio Brown/PIT reconciliation has
no idea what our position is. We have not shared it with anyone outside of the
Steelers. We have shared our thoughts w/ the Steelers but will keep those
discussions internal.
Rosenhaus has already said that Brown is prepared for
whatever happens this offseason, and the feeling has been that a divorce is
imminent. Steelers owner Art Rooney II said earlier this month that it’s hard to envision Brown back with the team in 2019 given
how things ended this past season.
While Brown going AWOL and essentially being suspended for
the final game of the season was the biggest headline, it wasn’t the only distraction he has created for the Steelers over
the past year or so. A fresh start seems like it would be beneficial for both
sides.
